This is a true incident that happened to an enthusiastic 10 year old boy in his school days. His artistic talent led him to pencil sketching and many more. He was blessed in many ways. No doubt, his parents gave him the best of everything a child could ever dream of. As days passed by, their financial situations changed. His father’s business income dropped. There was tight budget and tried to make both ends meet every month. It continued for some months until the point when they were worn out and could not pay school fees for their only son.
The mother was in distress. They tried and prayed until the last day of payment of school fees. The father suffered emotional pain that the child would be caught up in utter disappointment. Everyday disappointments were too much to bear for the family. There came the last day of payment and they were still praying about it.
The family made routine visit to his grandparents to convey love and regards to them as is the culture of South Asians. They had not shared the financial crisis to anyone nor asked for help. To their surprise, the grandparents stood up and given them a great sum of money saying some other relative in the family wanted to give away to them as a token of love. This act of God’s wonder and excitement that came from God’s way of answering their prayers were just awesome.
Today, he is grown up man in his 30s and teaches his children the fear of God. What a wonderful God He is !
A beautiful young lady in her 20s told a delightful story. She was blessed with beautiful children. Her house was never lacking in anything good. She had all that she dreamed of. She could desire of anything and things came to be. Anyone would say she was a lucky woman. Her relatives and people around her too never lacked anything because they acquired from her.
She could hear everything about things taken from her. Although they were few sincere souls around her, they were others who mocked her and rob her of her good things. That’s when she was starting to feel troubled. Her only weakness, she was blind and helpless. She came running to a place where she knows God speaks. She went to a church. She cried out to God for help. She then went back home with relief, hoping God will soon answer her prayer.
She did not stop praying, asking God for help in her weakness. Her eyes were both blind and she could hear people steal good things from her. She herself could not treasure it. She was thankful to God for His blessings for her life but she wanted to see them.
Days passed, one day early morning as she turned sideways on her bed, she saw ray of sunshine. She was overjoyed. Finally, it was happening. She was starting to see light. With faith, she holds on to the truth that God exists and He rewards those who diligently seek him… As said in the Bible in Hebrews 11:6
A much-awaited day is approaching ! This is something epic to me. It was taking a long while to happen and I had been waiting too long. This anticipated wait kindled a range of emotions. I had been praying while waiting. I could not stop.
It was my Australian citizenship ceremony, the day of beautiful beginnings. After a long long wait, God who thinks of me and remembers me sent a happy news. The coming week is going to be a Big Thank you Week to God. He has answered to my every prayer. God had been mindful of me and cared for me since the time I applied for citizenship. He had thoughts of me living in this country. He did not turn back until he accomplished the purposes of his heart. “His will be done on earth” was my prayer. And it happened so.
Everyone in my family received citizenship ahead of me although we applied together at the same time. I was left out, waiting and worried. I am grateful to God who is mindful, cares and satisfies my every need with good things. Thank you Lord for this big day.
His word says : The Lord will indeed give what is good,
and our land (Australia) will yield its harvest (good things). Psalm 85:12
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them? Psalm 8:4
To Lord Jesus Christ, be all glory, honor and praise!
A childhood friend of mine, Raja was born and brought up in quiet streets of suburban part of South India. He was a slum-dweller with his little family, residing in the back streets of his busy hometown. Being the first-born, his parents named him Raja which meant King. Unlike his name, he was always seen in a white singlet and brown trousers which appeared worn out and dull. As a child, his ambition was to become a builder as his father was doing the same.
He always came to Sunday school as a young child. There he learnt about God and his attributes through His works among people. He listened to incidents of how God lifted up the humble, how God caused the humble to succeed, how He lifted the lowly, made them King and seated them on the throne. He was amazed about who God is. His heart and mind were occupied with thoughts of Jesus, His miracles and how He changes lives. Raja adored God and His son Lord Jesus Christ. He started to read scripture at a young age. God’s word brought hope and filled him with peace and joy.
Everyone around him could see he was standing in faith in Jesus. When time for his wedding drew near, he desired to have a God-fearing wife and to lead a God-centred life. He wanted to keep God as the top priority and his word as a guide for his life. He knew it was not his parents but the Spirit of good Lord was nurturing him every step of the way. Because he knew “The Lord watches over the way of the righteous”.
His 2 young children and his wife are happy, peaceful and content with God by their side every day. God had lifted him up from where he was born to a beautiful place where he had never dreamt of. Flying on an aeroplane and living in a foreign country was more than he imagined. Today, he is grateful to God for his everlasting love and unfailing favor shown to him each day. God’s blessings are upon him.
But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high. Psalm 3:3
From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people. Psalm 3:8
A friendly and intelligent person I know was a fresh engineering graduate. His happy-go-lucky life always filled him with surprises and good things. He would eat whatever he craves for. He also buys the best wear from his favorite shops. He had everything except for one which is his identity in the society.
When he was content and had no worries of the world, people around him ask him what he was. And he had no answer. That stopped everything. For some years, he remained unemployed although he was seeking out every day. He prayed to God every day that a way be opened for him. Many of his job applications were rejected straight away. His frustration grew worse. His nature became different, from being friendly to being hostile to anyone and everyone. He became a difficult person to deal with. He would lock up his door behind him. He would only let people talk to him for brief moments.
He was losing his smile. He was grim faced. His careless words showed rage and low self-esteem. He found very hard to like anything, even food. He knew days were passing and life was becoming miserable. People would not stop bugging him. Struggling to connect, he even lost friendships who wouldn’t recognise the pressure. He moved away from them. The ones closest to him was his family but he was close to none.
God knew he was broken-hearted. He received an interview letter from a top engineering company out of the blue. He couldn’t believe his eyes. He walked in, attended it, aced it. God knew his sorrows. With his heart full of compassion, showed him riches of his mercy and he opened doors of opportunity for him. He comforted him as a father comforts his child. That’s the comfort he would not find anywhere in the world. He carried him on his shoulders thus far as a father would. He now acknowledges that Heavenly Father God is a wonder working God.
Through Lord Jesus Christ, God, the Comforter in sorrow touched his heart.
A friend of my brother was diagnosed with lung cancer. He was found to be in his terminal stage so the doctors given up hope in a matter of few days of treatment. He was a father of 2 beautiful little children. He had recently come to know the true and living God. His friends and families had been praying earnestly to God to work wonders in his life. Everyone put their faith in God for his wellness for the sake of his young children.
In 2 weeks time, the doctors advised him for a review. Even after repeated chemotherapy, the docs found that his blood cells count were within the normal range. Normally the blood cells count drop after repeated chemotherapy. Doctors were also surprised to see that his air circulation in his lungs was good and it had significantly improved in a matter a few days. His number of cycles of chemo were reduced and his breathing had almost come to normal.
God is mighty and awesome. He works in ways we cannot see. He is firm in his purpose. Our God is a healer.
I met a lovely mom who took pride in not having worked hard all her life. Hers was a life of a princess. Adorned, adored and led a rich sensual life. She was a happy young lady in her 20s back then. She would have all that she wanted in a matter of few minutes. Her self-indulgent nature knew no limits. Day and night, she splurged to treat and give herself full happiness. Days went on and on. One day she realised she had lost something that she treasured. Her son had fallen terribly ill and waiting to die. She thought to herself her chance of enjoying tomorrow is all gone.
She roamed on the streets. She
tried to believe her real-life situation. Again, taking the same road going
back and forth. A church close by, caught her attention. She peeked in but saw
no one. These bold words of life were written on the wall and still speaks
today “With God, all these are possible”.
No one could give her such hope and courage. She suddenly felt a surge of faith in her heart that a certain God is there and nothing is impossible with him. She believed that this God will help her and heal her son completely. Her son had been lying sick with no food for 7 days. She went home to see her son with hope from these words although there was no money to buy medicine. To her surprise, her son got up from his bed of suffering and asked for a cup of milk. Indeed, that great God had cured him of his sickness as soon as the mother put her faith in God and Lord Jesus Christ. Mom’s faith in God made her son well.
A beautiful young woman in her late 40s came home from work, thinking to herself “What a long day, it’s been! As she was nearing home, she found her front door had been broken in and entered by some stranger. Trembling from head to toe, she was wondering whether it was safe to enter her own home. Despite her fears, her eyes looked around to her safe keep and wondered if everything were safe.
Her furniture had been broken. It appeared as if someone had rummaged her whole house, and tried their wit’s end to access her safe keep. Her dark and gloomy house with all bits and pieces of her things scattered everywhere said a lot about the strangers and their needs. She was the only person living in her house. She had no companion with her. She was desperate for help.
In a panicky scene right before her, her heart was melting away with sorrow and her fears giving way to weird imaginations. She turned around to the wall and prayed to God quietly mumbling in her heart, “Please Lord, remember me and my prayers and vows to you”. She continued her search for her trinket box where she kept her valuables. To her surprise, she found it. That small area of her house was untouched and undisturbed by the stranger. Although the whole house was a mess, she gladly put forth her statement to her neighbours that her trinket box with all her valuables were indeed safe.
This was the Lord’s doing. It is still marvellous in our eyes. She is indeed a happy woman enjoying the love of God and the riches of His grace.
A beautiful lady in her mid-40s
had not heard a thing in the world since birth. She led a quiet, calm life of
contentment with one important thing missing in her life. With her good looks,
no one could miss her presence. She only stayed at home with her family and
kept her world of loneliness to herself.
One day she was invited to a
prayer meeting organised by a gifted God-fearing woman. She came and sat down
on the front row knowing that it was a long talk and only the crowd would
benefit from it. In a matter of few minutes, her ears were opened. She started
to hear what the speaker was saying. She started smiling with excitement as it
was the first time ever, she was hearing since birth.
She stood as a witness that only
the word of God spoken through the speaker opened her ears. No doctor could
help her but God Almighty helped her by His words. He sent his words and healed
her forever. His words worked like medicine, like a surgeon who works on the
inside of the body. Our God is an awesome God.
She and her family went home with
great joy and celebrated God’s goodness displayed on her health. Her
countenance changed to a glad and cheerful person. Her gratefulness to God has
touched many people living in her hometown.
Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not
be disgraced. Isaiah 50:7 (from Holy Bible)
A rebel from birth, often mistaken, innocent but blamed was the life of a beautiful woman who is now in her early 60s. She was orphaned in her late teens. Her life had been a drama packed with so much of musing. Her courage was eaten up by her weak conscience. Her story of life continued with a sigh and constant allergic reactions whenever her stress hit her hard. Battling with her struggles day and night physically and emotionally, she had completely lost her focus of her real self.
Constant ramblings and tears didn’t ease her pain. She tried to gain favour and affection for a friendship with a close knit female contemporary. It didn’t work out too. It actually got worse. Her temper and worry didn’t add anything to her life. “All the King’s horses and all the King’s men could not put Humpty together again” was the exact scenario of her life. No one could help her. She had not felt the grace and power that was needed to live an enchanted life. Everything was a mess. Toil followed mess, followed by worries and anger, followed by lack of courage and tasteless life. Such was the life of this woman. Not feel like living was the only instinct.
There was one thing her heart was longing for and that was her only asset. Her desire turned towards her asset. She knew her asset was living, true, genuine and never lie. She would sleep in peace because her asset is truly trustworthy and full of love. She believed that it will embrace her and save her out of all her troubles. Her hope started to spring up like a new shoot full of life eagerly desiring for more light to shine on her. Her sorrow and sighing were going away day by day. She felt a huge weight lifted off her shoulders. Just as the dew drops refresh the plant, so her life was refreshed, restored and comforted by God’s rich mercy.
Her asset was and still is the word of God, the Bible. It is the voice of God that changed the realities of her life. She is grateful to him who took her from strength to strength.
